What should you look out for when renting an apartment?

- Full condominium title or construction servitude (kat irtifakı); if the latter, where the occupancy permit process stands.
- Maintenance fee amount and any unpaid fees — the debt may pass to the buyer along with the property.
- The building’s year of construction and the earthquake code it complies with; for buildings constructed before 2000, whether they have been structurally reinforced.
- If you are using a mortgage, the bank’s appraisal value may come in below the sale price.

I have paid a deposit. What happens if I back out?
A deposit (earnest money) and forfeit money are not the same thing; which one applies depends on how the contract defines the payment. We read the text together with you before you pay anything.
Should a lower price be declared on the title deed?
No. Declaring a price below the actual value on the title deed puts both the buyer and the seller at risk and creates tax problems. If we receive such a request, we give a written warning.
